STEP 1: PERSONAL INTERVIEW
Designed to get to know you and your game, discuss your
expectations, short and long term goals, any physical restrictions, any
tendencies.
STEP 2: PRESENT SET EVALUATION
A thorough dissection of the clubs you are presently playing with.
This step will uncover any problems that might already exist, such
as an improper lie angles which affect direction. Shafts that are too
stiff, too short and too heavy, affect posture, ball position, ball flight
and tempo. The wrong grip size affects the release of the club through
the impact zone.
STEP 3: STATIC /DYNAMIC FITTING
The information gathered from Steps 1 and 2 is now incorporated with
an outdoor ball striking session. I stress outdoor because you are being
misled if you are hitting off a mat and compounded even more if hitting
into a net. Range mats are incredibly forgiving, disguising swing flaws
because of the spongy turf. What often feels like solid contact is not.
Hitting into a net is no substitute either. How do you know what line
your ball traveled on and how far it went? Simulators are not the answer
either, you are still hitting off a mat.
Some static measurements are taken to arbitrarily establish a benchmark
for length and lie along with hitting an assortment of test clubs to
determine an overall weight and a general feel of club. Optimum swing
speed, (the swing speed of the club that gives you the best results, not
the average speed of 10 swings) and rhythm/tempo readings are taken to
zero in on proper flex and kick point of the shaft. Grip size and
texture are discussed along with head design and features.
STEP 4: SET MAKE-UP
We now combine the data gathered from the 3 previous steps and match
them to clubs best suited for you. The make-up of your set is also
customized. Why pay for clubs that you can't hit! The clubs in your bag
should focus on your strengths.
FACTS ABOUT CUSTOM MADE GOLF CLUBS
-
You, the customer will be dealing one on one with
the club maker.
-
Each club is individually assembled to your exact
specification.
-
The majority of club heads on the market, whether
it be component heads or the most recognizable brands in the golf
industry are manufactured in the same foundries and finishing houses
located in South East Asia.
-
Original Equipment Manufacturers use the same
shafts and grips that a Custom Club maker would use.
-
Brand name components also have Research &
Development facilities and design teams.
CONSIDER THIS:
-
Getting properly fitted for golf clubs is
supposed to take time.
-
Each individual has their own definition or idea
of what "feel" is. So how does a golfer benefit from an assembly
line assembled golf club if they all feel the same
-
Clubs used by touring pros are customized
differently from what is available to the general golf consumer.
-
Advertising, endorsement contracts," Pay to Play"
offerings to PGA pros by the big names in golf equipment and
mark-ups at the retail level substantially increase the price of
their product and does not necessarily reflect its value.
